PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Despite a season-high 17 saves by senior goalkeeper Jess Colucci, as well as a furious second-half comeback, the fourth-seeded Temple lacrosse team ultimately fell short in the Atlantic 10 semifinals and lost 15-13 to top-seeded Richmond.

Temple stands at 7-8 overall, and will play two non-conference games to finish out the season. The first will be on Thursday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m. against #12 Towson. The Owls will honor four seniors playing in their final home game at TU.

Senior Chelsea Rosiek had a huge game for Temple in the loss to Richmond with three goals and five assists. Leading TU in scoring was sophomore Missy Schweitzer with four goals. Freshmen Charlotte Swavola and Stephany Parcell scored two goals apiece, with Swavola adding two assists and Parcell tallying one.

The Owls found themselves down 2-0 less than three minutes into the game, but Temple got on the board when Schweitzer scored her first on a free position attempt. The Owls soon trailed 3-1, but Colucci's efforts minimized the damage, as she recorded five saves on Richmond's first eight shots.

Schweitzer struck again near the 20-minute mark, narrowing the margin to 3-2 off a pass from Rosiek. Junior Ann Stouffer also scored in the first half, but Richmond surged ahead and led 7-3 at halftime.

Rosiek got the first draw of the second half, and just 24 seconds into play she passed to Parcell who put it in the net. The teams traded goals twice more in a flurry of scoring, and just over three minutes into the half Temple was down 9-5.

The Owls then scored three unanswered to pull within one, 9-8, but the back-and-forth continued. Schweitzer scored her fourth goal of the game to once again pull TU within one, 11-10 with 12:35 remaining, and Rosiek got a pass from Parcell to finally tie the score at 11-11 just 30 seconds later.

The scoring barrage stopped for a few minutes, but the teams combined for six goals in the final six minutes and 30 seconds of the game. After Richmond took a 13-12 lead, sophomore Kelsey Zenuk came right back down after TU won the draw, and scored on a pass from Rosiek to tie the game a final time at 13-13.

Richmond's Mary Flowers, who led all players with five goals in the contest, scored two of those in the final 2:45 and Temple was unable to find the net again.
