West Leads Men’s Track & Field At Penn Relays, Lions Invitational

Senior takes first in hammer throw at Lions, fifth at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA – Senior Grant West led the Temple men's track & field team with a first place finish in the hammer throw at the Lions Invitational, following that up with a fifth place finish in the same event at the Penn Relays on Saturday.
At the Penn Relays, West competed in the College Men's Hammer Throw Championship, placing fifth with a toss of 59.27m. Junior Bob Keogh and senior Bryce Buffaloe competed in the College Men's Hammer Throw College event, placing eighth (56.16m) and 10th (54.78m), respectively.
The men's 4x100m team – Miles Dryden, Tim Boeni, Josue Louis, Emmanuel Freeland – ran the IC4A Finals in a time of 40.99 to place third. Also competing was the 4x800m relay team – Lou Parisi, Aaron Taylor, Zac Coulson, Geoffrey Barletta – placing 25th in a time of 7:47.23.
West threw 58.42m to take top honors at the Lions Invitational, being followed by Keogh in second place (56.08m) and Buffaloe in third (55.62m). Junior Chris Durante competed in the javelin, placing third with a toss of 58.22m. Also taking a third place overall finish was sophomore Brian Littlepage, throwing 44.10 in the discus.
Temple is back in action next when they compete for a conference title, traveling to the University of Massachusetts on May 1-2 for the Atlantic 10 Championships.
