Volleyball Team Earns Owl Cup Trophy at Eighth Annual Breakfast of Champions

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University honored its best in athletics, both on and off the field, at its eighth annual Breakfast of Champions Wednesday morning. The volleyball team earned a special award for 2009-10, taking the Owl Cup Trophy. In all, over 300 Temple student-athletes were recognized for academic and athletic accomplishments.
The Owl Cup is given to the team that has best exemplified the initiatives set forth by the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program: student-athletes supporting other student-athletes, excelling in and out of the classroom, attending CHAMPS/Life Skill workshops, volunteerism, and the promotion of a healthy and competitive campus environment.
Senior volleyball student-athlete Jackie Morrison was named to TU's Trustee Ten for the third straight year. The Trustee Ten honors the 10 Temple student-athletes with the highest GPA's in the department.
Also called out for special recognition was senior Yun Yi Zhang, for earning AVCA All-American honorable mention and for leading NCAA Division I in kills.
