West, Keogh and Buffaloe go one-two-three in hammer throw

AMHERST, Mass
. – After one day of competition, the Temple men's track & field team is sitting in first place with 71 team points thanks to first place finishes from seniors Tim Boeni in the long jump and Grant West in the hammer throw.

Boeni landed 25-02.75 to take the title in the long jump, while West threw 193-07 for his hammer throw title. Also in the hammer, junior Bob Keogh placed second (191-00) and senior Bryce Buffaloe finished third (188-10).

Buffaloe also fared well in the discus, placing third with a toss of 158-01. In the high jump, senior Josue Louis took home silver clearing 7-00.25. Also taking a second place finish was sophomore Travis Mahoney, running 9:15.03 in the 3000m steeplechase.

In preliminary action, Louis qualified for the finals in the 110m hurdles running a qualifying time of 14.66. Juniors Emmanuel Freeland and Miles Dryden qualified for the finals in the 100m dash, clocking in preliminary times of 10.73 and 10.77 respectively.

Day two begins with the men's decathlon at 8:45 a.m.
