Mahoney and May highlight Friday’s action for the Owls

PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore Travis Mahoney and junior Mike May highlight Friday's action of the 2010 IC4A Championships at Princeton University's Weaver Track & Field Stadium, and are two of 11 individuals and two relay teams to be competing for the Temple men's track & field team. The three day IC4A Championships run Friday to Sunday, May 14-16.

Mahoney set a school record on his way to qualifying for the IC4A's by running a time of 9:14.47 in the 3000m steeplechase, the event in which he will compete in at 7:20 p.m. May will be spearheading the Owls' efforts in the 10,000m run, beginning at 9:15 p.m.

On Saturday, Temple's “Big Three” – Grant West, Bob Keogh and Bryce Buffaloe – take their turn in the hammer throw at 1:00 p.m. The trio of throwers have been battling it out all season, most recently finishing one-two-three in the order above at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships in the event. Also look for Buffaloe to compete in the discus finals at 4:00 p.m.

Senior Tim Boeni and junior Miles Dryden will go toe-to-toe in the long jump finals on Saturday starting at 3:00 p.m. Boeni is fresh off of a title winning performance in the event at the A-10 Outdoor Championships.

On the track in day two, Boeni and Dryden will again be competing in the same event when they race the 200m dash trials. Both athletes ran personal-bests in the event at the Conference Championships.

In the 100m dash, Dryden and sophomore Emmanuel Freeland look to clock in solid times in hopes of qualifying for Sunday's finals. Each punched their tickets with personal-bests at the A-10 Outdoor Championships.

Senior Josue Louis will be competing in both the 110m hurdles on Saturday and the high jump on Sunday. Louis tied for first recently at the A-10's in the high jump, also making the finals of the 110m hurdles.

Also competing in the field on Sunday is junior Chris Durante, throwing the javelin at 10:30 a.m. Durante has performed steadily in the javelin all season long, throwing his personal-best of 196-1.5 in the Villanova Tri-Meet to start the season.

The men's 4x100m relay squad – Dryden, Boeni, Louis and Freeland – takes to the track at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the 4x400m team – Dryden, Derrhyl Duncan, Lou Parisi and Aaron Taylor – close out the day at 6:00 p.m.

Finals for the preliminary events run on Sunday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the men's 4x100m relay finals.
