Boeni Wins Long Jump, Men’s 4x100m Breaks School Record On Day Two Of IC4A Championships

– Senior Tim Boeni captured the title in the long jump and the men's 4x100m relay team broke a school record to highlight action for the Temple men's track & field team on the Saturday of the IC4A Championships, held at Princeton University. The men are sitting in eighth place with 13 points.

Boeni landed 25-00.75 in the long jump to take top honors. Junior Miles Dryden competed in the same event, placing 27th with a leap of 22-00.25.

Boeni and Dryden then teamed with senior Josue Louis and sophomore Emmanuel Freeland to put down the second fastest 4x100m relay qualifying time of the day, getting to the finals with a school-record time of 40.45. The previous record, set in 1996, was set at 40.76.

Louis just missed the cut for the 110m hurdles finals, running a qualifying time of 14.91.

Freeland will be racing in the 100m dash finals on Sunday, as he posted a personal-best qualifying time of 10.67 (8th). The sophomore was edged by .08 for the finals of the 200m dash, running a time of 21.34 (9th).

The 4x400m relay – Alex Schiavi, Lou Parisi, Derrhyl Duncan and Aaron Taylor – teamed to run a time of 3:15.91 to place 22nd.

Senior Brad McFadden ran the 400m hurdles, clocking in a time of 54.04 for 23rd.

Senior Bryce Buffaloe led the Owls in the hammer throw, placing sixth with a personal-best toss of 195-04. Classmate Grant West came in 11th (187-04) while junior Bob Keogh placed 18th (179-00) in the same event. Buffaloe also came in 18th in the discus, throwing 147-01.

On Friday evening, sophomore Travis Mahoney ran 9:19.20 in the 3000m steeplechase, placing 20th. Junior Mike May took on the 10,000m run, clocking in at 32:12.27 for 24th place.

The 4x100m finals will go off at 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, while Freeland will compete in the 100m dash finals at 1:25 p.m.
