Owls boast three individual titles, two meet records

AMHERST, Mass. – Three first place finishes from seniors Tim Boeni, Josue Louis and Grant West led the Temple men's track & field team to a school-best second place overall finish at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships. Along with placing first in the events, Boeni and Louis bested meet-records in the long jump and high jump respectively.
“Top to bottom, the men really came through and put together a great day,” said head coach Eric Mobley. “There were some really outstanding performances, including those from Tim and Josue.”
Boeni blew away the field on day one, landing 25-02.75 in the long jump for first place. Junior Miles Dryden took home fourth in the same event, leaping 23-04.50. Boeni ran the 200m dash as well, placing fifth with a time of 21.52.
Louis tied for first in the high jump clearing 7-00.25. Freshman Tim Malloy fared well in the same event, clearing 6-10.25.
West won the hammer throw with a toss of 193-07 on day one, being followed by junior Bob Keogh (191-00) and senior Bryce Buffaloe (188-10) in second and third place respectively.
Several second place finishes were had on the second day of action. Junior Chris Durante placed second in the javelin with a heave of 195-04, while classmate Kijaun Wilkinson nabbed second in the triple jump with a mark of 46-10.25. Sophomore Emmanuel Freeland clocked in a time of 10.60 in the 100m dash to take home silver.
The men's 4x100m relay team tied the school record with a time of 40.76, placing second to Charlotte in the event.
In the 400m hurdles, senior Brad McFadden claimed a fifth place finish with a time of 54.18.
Two Owls ran well in the 800m run, as junior Aaron Taylor placed sixth (1:52.57) and classmate Lou Parisi finished seventh (1:52.63).
The Owls will be back in action next at the IC4A Championships, being held at Princeton University on May 14-16.
