McKoy Named Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week

Owls' junior hit .636 in three games this past weekend

PHILADELPHIA – Temple junior outfielder Byron McKoy has been named Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending May 24, in voting conducted by the city's head coaches and sports information directors.

McKoy batted .636 with four doubles in the Owls' final conference series of the season against St. Bonaventure. Scoring five times and driving in three runs, he helped lead the Owls to a 2-1 weekend to close out the regular season.

The Charlotte, N.C. (Independence) native finished the season tied for the team lead with 62 hits, batting .288 with 12 doubles and a team-best six home runs. He compiled a team-best 15-game hit streak from April 23 to May 15, owning 15 multi-hit and nine multi-RBI games. Only committing one error in 114 chances in left field, McKoy led Temple outfielders with seven assists.

Temple concluded the regular season 14-37, 10-17 in Atlantic 10 competition.
