Baseball's Ryan Ferguson and Dan Moller Named To Summer League All-Star Teams

7.12.10 | Baseball

PHILADELPHIA - Two members of the Temple baseball team, junior Ryan Ferguson and sophomore Dan Moller, have been named to their summer league all-star teams.  Ferguson was selected an all-star from the Elmira Pioneers of the New York Collegiate Baseball League for the second consecutive season, while Moller earns the nod a member of the Baltimore Redbirds of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.

Ferguson leads the Pioneers batting .354 with a league leading 11 doubles.  His slugging percentage of .495 ranks tops on the team, while his 15 runs batted in ranks second.  The NYCBL All-Star Game is being held at 7:00 p.m. on July 12 at East Field, home of the Glens Falls Golden Eagles.

The Glen Mills, Pa. native hit a team-best .328 for the Owls this past season, also driving in a team-high 40 runs.  He hit 13 doubles and notched five home runs, earning Philadelphia All-Big 5 honors for the first time in his career.

In seven appearances, Moller is 2-0 ranking fifth in the league with a 1.42 earned run average for the Redbirds.  He logged 25.2 innings pitched over the first half of his summer season, striking out 18 batters allowing half as many walks.  The 2010 Mid-Atlantic Classic pits the All-Stars of the CRCBL against the best of the Valley Baseball League.  The game will take place on July 14 at 7:30 p.m., hosted in the confines of Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda, Md.

A product of Schnecksville, Pa. (Parkland), Moller struck out 11 batters in 16 appearances and three starts for the Owls in 2009.
