Ben White Selected To Coastal Plain League American All-Star Team

Owls' junior representing Morehead City Marlins in mid-summer classic

PHILADELPHIA - Temple junior Ben White has been selected to play in the 2010 Coastal Plain League All-Star game, being held at McNair Field in Forest City, N.C. on July 20.  White is the lone pitcher representing his summer team the Morehead City Marlins of the American Division, and is one of nine hurlers on the 27-man roster.

The Parkesburg, Pa. (Coatesville) native owns a first half record of 3-2 with a 2.63 ERA for the Marlins.  He ranks second on the team with 54 strikeouts over 41.0 innings pitched, holding opposing hitters to a mere .188 batting average.

This past season with the Owls, White impressed with a career high 94 strikeouts, the most by any Temple pitcher since 1999.  He led the team in wins and innings pitched from the top spot in the rotation, earning Philadelphia All-Big 5 Baseball team honors.
