Owls open up this weekend at the Monmouth Invitational
PHILADELPHIA - After school-best finishes at last season's Atlantic 10, NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional and IC4A Championships, the Temple men's cross country team strides into the 2010 season with plenty of momentum on their side. Returning four seniors, including 2009 All-Atlantic 10 selection Mike May, the Owls have made their presence felt in the region.
Preseason ranked ninth and ranked eighth in the first regular season poll in the Mid-Atlantic Region by the USTFCCCA, the Owls are focused on continually improving their finishes each meet in an effort to keep their momentum rolling in the right direction.
"Our main focus this year is for everybody to stay healthy," commented head coach Eric Mobley. "If everyone stays healthy we should do even better than we did last year."
Along with May, seniors Eddie Penetar, Eric Conklin and Clarke Hunt return from last year's history-making squad. The quartet, combined with juniors Travis Mahoney, Geoff Barletta, Dan Carreon, Ben Thomas and David Walters look to break into the top tier of conference finishers this season.
"We had a great performance last season," said Mobley. "The guys summer training went well and everyone came back healthy and ready to go. We are looking to break the top three in the conference and those guys are ready to do it."
