Men's Track & Field Places Fourth At Penn State National Invite

Mahoney wins the one-mile run, Parisi the 800m
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Led by a first place finishes from junior Travis Mahoney in the one-mile run and senior Louis Parisi in the 800., the Temple men's track & field team placed fourth at the highly competitive Penn State National Invitational. Mahoney ran the mile in a season-best time IC4A qualifying time of 4:13.32 while Parisi cruised the 800m in a time of 1:52.80.
As he has been doing all season, senior Bob Keogh held down the weight throw for the Owls. Keogh heaved a toss of 63-00 to place fifth in the event - a mark that currently ranks 34th in the nation. Also in the field, freshman Gabe Pickett had a nice performance in the triple jump, placing 23rd with a leap of 44-4. Senior Miles Dryden placed 14th in the long jump, posting a distance of 22-10.
On the track, junior Alan Harding turned in a sixth place finish in the 500m, running a time of 1:04.30 for IC4A qualifying marks. Senior Emmanual Freeland placed 10th in the 200m dash running 22.11. Senior Eddie Penetar ran a solid time in the 3000m, placing fourth in 8:35.60.
The men's distance relay team - Mahoney, Alex McGee, Aaron Taylor, Eddie Penetar - broke a school record with an IC4A qualifying time of 9:57.58. The original school record was set in 1987 at a time of 10:09. The 4x400m relay team also fared well, meeting IC4A qualifying marks with a time of 3:18.18.
Up next for the Owls is a trip to the Monmouth Invitational on February 5.
