Four Run Ninth Propels ‘White’ Squad Past Cherry in Temple Baseball’s Annual Cherry & White Game

AMBLER, PA— On Sunday afternoon, Temple Baseball held their annual Cherry and White Inter-Squad Game, and first under new skipper Ryan Wheeler. The team was split by managers of the day, Mike Hickey who led the 'White' team and Kevin Small who managed the 'Cherry' squad.
On the mound, the day was highlighted by solid outings from freshmen Patrick Peterson, Eric Peterson, and sophomore Zach Batchelor for the Cherry, and freshman Adam Dian, redshirt junior Steve Visnic and reshirt senior Steve Nikorak for the White.
Pitching highlights
White-
Adam Dian (5th and 6th)- 2 innings, one hit, no runs, one walk, two strikeouts, faced 8 batters
Steve Visnic (8th and 9th)-2 innings, one hit, no runs, no walks, one strikeout, one hit batter, and faced nine
Steve Nikorak (10th)- 1 inning, three batters faced.
Cherry-
Patrick Peterson (3rd & 4th)- two innings, one hit, one run (earned), two strikeouts, one hit batter, one balk, eight batters faced
Zach Batchelor (5th & 6th)- two innings, one hit, one walk, nine batters faced
Eric Peterson (7th & 8th)- two innings, two walks, one strikeout, seven batters faced
Key batting performances:
White-
David Hall- (4 for 5) with a double, 3 singles, two runs scored, and five stolen bases. He also walked twice.
Elijah Yarborough- (2 for 4) a run scored, 2 RBIs, and a double in the first
Henry Knabe- (2 for 5) a two RBI triple in the first, a hit by pitch and later score in the ninth, and an RBI single in the ninth, as the team batted around.
Cherry-
Jabair Khan- (2 for 5) with 2 singles, a walk, and two stolen bases, 2 runs scored
Matt Elko- (3 for 6) with 3 singles, an RBI and a run scored
Nick Lustrino- (2 for 5) with 2 singles, a walk, and a run scored
The fall season will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 15 when the Owls face the University of Pennsylvania Quakers in an exhibition matchup at Melklejohn Stadium.
