PHILADELPHIA – Temple Women's Soccer (4-9-0, 1-3-0) gets back to work on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. when it visits cross-town rival Saint Joseph's (5-5-4, 0-2-2) for its only match of the weekend. The Owls are going to Finnesey Field fresh off their first Atlantic 10 Conference victory of the season, which came at the hands of the George Washington Colonials on Sunday afternoon at the Ambler Sports Complex. St. Joe's is looking to win its first league game of the season.. In their latest outing, the Hawks dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to the Richmond Spiders.

The Owls demonstrated one of their best defensive outings of the season on Sunday, which they will be looking to build on Friday evening. Redshirt junior Tara Murphy secured the defensive unit's strong effort by pitching the shut out in goal by making four saves. Murphy ranks fourth in the A-10 in saves with 54 on the year.

Senior Niki Conn, who is eighth in the conference in shots per game at 2.91, is still the Owls' leading scorer with nine points on the year. In Sunday's game against GW, Conn scored her fourth goal of the season, which proved to be all Temple needed to knock off the Colonials.

Prior to beginning conference play, the Hawks won four straight games, including three straight shutouts in the latter part of that span.  On the year, St. Joe's has recorded six shutouts.

Goalkeepers Lauren Jancuska and Christine Neal have split playing time in goal this season. Jancuska is 3-0-1 in between the posts and is ranked third in the conference and leads the Hawks with a 0.57 goals against average.  Neal has played 406 more minutes than Jancuska, helping her to the team-lead in saves with 41.

The Hawks have gotten a significant amount of offensive production this season, as Mo Hawkins and  Jen Pfeiffer have provided the bulk of the scoring. Hawkins enters Friday night with a team-high 5 goals and 11 points on the year, while Pfeiffer is just behind her with four tallies and nine total points this year.
