GUADALAJARA, Mexico –The list of former Temple athletes participating in the 2011 Pan American Games continues to expand. Josue Louis, a 2010 graduate from the School of Tourism and Hospitality and former member of the Temple track and field program, will take part in the men's high jump in the Pan American Games being held in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Louis joins his former coach and the current assistant track and field coach Shameka Marshall at the games. Marshall will be competing in the high jump as one of two long jumpers for the women's track team. Women's rowing coach Jason Read ('03) and men's rowing alums Marcus McElhenney and Joe Spencer ('05) will also be representing Temple and the USA in Pan American competition.

“It will be exciting to see my former coach Shameka Marshall compete for the USA as well,” Louis said.
Since graduating from Temple, Louis has gone professional in track and field as a competitor for the Republic of Haiti Track & Field Team.

While at Temple, Louis took first place in several high jump competitions and was consistently the Owls' top-finisher in those events. During his senior year, he tied for first place in the high jump at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship and placed first overall in the same event at the A-10 Indoor Championship. Louis is a former A-10 Rookie of the Year.

The men's high jump will take place on Monday, October 24 at 4:20 p.m.

The Pan American Games is a prestigious event that takes place every four years in the year preceding the Olympic Games. This year's event, which will run from October 14-30, will feature competition in over 30 sports. The Games are expected to see more than 6,000 athletes from 42 nations.
