Will Kellar Leads Owls With 16th Place Finish
BRONX, N.Y. – Temple concluded its 2011 cross country season at the IC4A Championships at Van Courtlandt Park in the Bronx. The Owls were led by sophomore Will Kellar's 16th place finish time of 26:27, helping the team claim a fifth place finish out of 16 teams in Saturday's meet.
Senior Ben Thomas closed out his Temple Cross Country career with a top 25 place in the meet, ranking 23rd.
Finishing inside the 27-minute mark was freshman Matt Kacyon in 40th place, before sophomore Phil Fanz became the 58th runner to cross the finish line, ahead of and senior Geoff Barletta in 71st place.
Rounding out the race for Temple were freshmen Cullen Davis and Tyler Robinson.
“Considering our youth, we did a great job this season,” assistant coach Matt Jelley said. “We took great strides; it was a very competitive year, which sets us up to come back big next year.”
Running season for Temple runners will pick back up in the not too distant future, as indoor track and field season will commence on Dec. 2 at the Jack Pyrah Invitational at Haverford College.
