LUCAYA, Bahamas - The Temple women's basketball team would like to wish all Owl fans a Happy Thanksgiving! The team is currently enjoying a trip to the Bahamas for the 2011 Junkanoo Jam and will play its first game on Friday at 3:15 p.m. against defending national champ #5/4 Texas A&M.
Temple arrived to the Grand Lucayan Hotel mid-afternoon on Wednesday and went to practice at St. George's High School where the Owls will be playing their games. On Thanksgiving Day the team woke up early to eat breakfast and get another practice session in before having free time on the beach. The tournament hosts gave the team a "Beach Party," where everyone could ride jet skis and a banana boat, as well as kayak and use a water trampoline.
All eight teams (the tournament has two brackets) will meet for a reception and Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday night on the lawn between the hotel lobby and the beach.
Depending on the outcome of tomorrow's game, the Owls will face either Iowa or St. John's on Saturday, at either 1:00 p.m. or 3:15 p.m.
