PHILADELPHIA— As Temple Baseball continues to prepare for its 2012 season, the Owls' players and coaches have selected redshirt senior Steve Nikorak, seniors Jabair Khan and Dan Moller based on their efforts this fall.

“These young men have taken large strides that show that they are leaders both on and off the field,” first year head coach Ryan Wheeler said. “All three of them have been setting the kind of examples that we are trying to instill in our players from an academic and athletic standpoint.”

Nikorak started all 53 games last season, where he batted .359 while leading the team in several offensive categories including home runs (11) and RBIs (51).

Also as an everyday starter in 2011, Khan batted .294, while leading the Owls with six sacrifice bunts and being ranked second on team in stolen bases with 12.

Moller is expected to make his return to the mound after missing the 2011 season with an injury. In 2010 as a sophomore, Moller made 16 relief appearances for the Owls, starting three time, while striking out 11 batters over 14.2 innings of work.

Temple will opens its 2012 campaign Feb. 17 at Old Dominion.
