THE OPENING TIP
•Temple had won three straight before having that streak snapped in a disappointing, 56-47 Big 5 loss to Villanova on Dec. 22...The Wildcats made 8-of-10 shots from the field to start the game and the Owls were never able to catch up.

•The Owls' game against #8/7 Duke marks the last in a five-game homestand...Next up for Temple are road games at Western Michigan and the A-10 opener at Richmond.

•The three-game win streak included a 59-53 win vs. UCLA on Dec. 20, a team ranked 16th in the AP Preaseason Poll, as well as a 73-57 win vs. Auburn and a 66-38 win vs. Kent State.

•Senior BJ Williams has led the team in assists in eight of 11 games this season, and currently ranks first among all players in the A-10 with 54 assists (4.9 per game).

Shey Peddy was named to the 2011-12 Naismith Women's College Player of the Year preseason watch list...She was one of 50 Division I student-athletes named to the list.

Kristen McCarthy was one of 30 candidates selected for the Lowe's 2011-12 Women's Basketball Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes notable achievements in four areas- classroom, character, community and competition.

•Duke is 8-2 overall with its losses coming to #10 Kentucky and to unranked Notre Dame by two points at the Junkanoo Jam, the same tournament Temple participated in...The Blue Devils have one win over a ranked team so far, 64-53 vs. #13/16 Purdue on Dec. 1...The most recent win saw Duke run away with a 107-45 win vs. UNC Wilmington on Dec. 20.

•Four players average in double figures in scoring for Duke, led by freshman Elizabeth Williams at 13.6 ppg and a team-best 9.0 rpg.

SERIES RECORD
Temple has never beaten Duke over six attempts since 1998. The closest of the six meetings was a year ago when the Owls suffered a seven-point, 71-64 defeat in Durham. In 2009 Temple lost by just eight points, 80-72 in Philadelphia. Three of the six meetings have taken place in Durham, and two others were at neutral sites, making this meeting only the second in Philly. In the NCAA Second Round in 2007, Temple lost 62-52 to the Blue Devils.

TEMPLE VS. THE POLLS
Temple is 12-94 all-time against ranked opponents, but has won seven in the last six years. The Owls are 7-24 since the 2004-05 season. Their most recent win vs. a ranked opponent was Feb. 25, 2009 against #13 Xavier.

BJ DISTRIBUTION COMPANY
Senior BJ Williams has led the Owls in assists in eight of 11 games so far this season, and has already racked up 54 total assists (4.9 per game) to lead all players in the Atlantic 10. Williams has dished at least four assists in Temple's last five games.

McCARTHY MOVES INTO FIFTH ALL-TIME
With a game-high 14 points against Villanova on Dec. 22, Kristen McCarthy moved into fifth place all-time at Temple in career scoring, now with 1,331 points.

McCarthy started the season in 11th place, but advancing further will take some time as Kamesha Hairston ('07) stands in fourth place with 1,573 points (242 ahead of McCarthy).

PEDDY THEFT
Shey Peddy continues to find ways to grab the ball from Temple's opponents, as she leads the team and ranks third in the A-10 this season with 28 steals (2.5 per game).

Peddy set the program's all-time record for steals in a single season last year with 104, recording at least one steal in all but one game, and has also notched at least one steal in all but one game so far in 2011-12. Her 3.2 spg a year ago ranked second in the A-10 and tied for 10th in NCAA Division I.

SHATTERING THE GLASS
In Temple's wins vs. Auburn and Kent State, the Owls averaged 15 more rebounds per game than their opponents (44.5 to 29.5). Temple's 52 rebounds vs. Kent State were the most in nearly three years, since the Owls pulled down 52 boards in an OT win at Tulane on Dec. 28, 2008.

Having allowed its opponents just 34.1 rpg this season, Temple ranks in first among all teams in the A-10 in rebounding defense.
