Owls travel to Steven's Invite this weekend, host Temple Invitational on February 27
PHILADELPHIA - With just two regular season meets left, the ninth-ranked Temple women's fencing team has its sights set on fine tuning its skills for postseason competition. Currently owning a record of 17-5, the Owls travel to the Steven's Invitational this weekend and return to host the Temple Invitational on February 27.
Temple most recently posted a 9-3 record at the highly competitive Northwestern Duals. Led by a perfect 13-0 day from freshman Teagan Kilpatrick, the Owls recorded notable wins over seventh-ranked Northwestern and North Carolina (rv). Three fencers - Kamali Thompson, Alyssa Lombardi and Epiphany Georges - owned perfect records against ranked opponents.
Thompson, who earned recognition as a Primetime Performer of the Week by CollegeFencing360.com, has been on fire as of late boasting a 17-1 record prior to the Northwestern Duals. Her lone loss in the span came at the hands of Olympic bronze medalist and second-ranked Penn State's Becca Ward.
The Owls will be in action this weekend, February 13, at the Steven's Invitational. Temple then returns home for its final McGonigle Hall meet of the year, celebrating Senior Day as the #9 Cherry and White host #2 Penn State, #5 St. John's, Duke (rv) and #4 Princeton in the Temple Invitational on February 27.
