Keogh takes third in weight throw final, Men's DMR posts like finish

KINGSTON, R.I.
- The Temple men's track & field team sits in fifth place after day one of the Atlantic 10 Championships in Kingston, R.I.  The Owls had several performers qualify for tomorrow's finals, while senior Bob Keogh secured a third place finish in the weight throw today.

"We had a major goal to try to get a lot of people back in the finals and we accomplished that," said head coach Eric Mobley.  "I think the team performed well and they are very focused to come back and do it again tomorrow."

Keogh landed a third place toss of 60-01.25 in the weight throw finals.  Also in the field, senior Miles Dryden finished fifth in the long jump, followed by sophomore Dylan Pensyl in sixth.

The Temple men's distance medley relay turned in a third place finish with a time of 10:02.85, and was one of three teams to break the old conference record in the event.

In qualifying action, senior Emmanual Freeland and teammate junior Kaseem Cheeks made it back to 55m finals turning in a preliminary times of 6.48 and 6.53, respectively.  Also in the sprints, freshman Alex McGee qualified for the 400m finals with a prelims time of 50.35.  Junior Alan Harding and senior Derrhyl Duncah will be competing tomorrow in the 500m finals, turning in a qualifying times of 1:06.64 and 1:06.12, respectively.

Senior Lou Parisi qualified for the 800m finals with a preliminary time of 1:57.37.

Day two action begins with the men's and women's high jump finals at 9:00 a.m.
