Malloy and Freeland post second place finishes on day two

KINGSTON, R.I.
- After two full days of competing against the conferences best, the Temple men's track & field team finished in fourth place overall at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Kingston, R.I.  Senior Emmanual Freeland and junior Tim Malloy took home second place finishes to wrap up competition on day two.

The Owls tied Massachusetts with 87 points, being outplaced by Rhode Island in first (158.50), Charlotte in second (155.50) and Fordham in third (88).

Freeland, Temple's top short sprints competitor, placed second in the 55m dash finals.  Posting the fourth fastest qualifying time, Freeland stepped it up on day two with a finals time of 6.42 for second place.  He also took thid place in the 200m dash finals, running a time of 22.14.  Also in the 200m finals, senior Miles Dryden placed fifth in a time of 22.30.

Freshman Alex McGee ran the 400m dash finals for the Owls, placing sixth in a time of 50.50.  In the 500m run, junior Alan Harding clocked in a third place time of 1:04.23, while senior Derrhyl Duncan placed sixth in a time of 1:06.25.  

In the 800m run, senior Lou Parisi turned in a third place finish with a time of 1:55.39.  In the one-mile run finals, junior Travis Mahoney represented Temple with a second place time of 4:14.72 - edged out of first place by a mere .18 seconds.

In the field, freshman Gabe Pickett took home fourth place in the triple jump with a leap of 47-02.50.  Malloy, competiting in the high jump, placed second with a distance of 6-08.25.
