PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Big 5 honored Qwedia Wallace of Temple as the Big 5 Women's Player of the Week on Feb. 28, marking Wallace's second such honor this season. The Owls have concluded regular season play and will head to the Atlantic 10 Tournament this weekend in Lowell, Mass., at the Tsongas Center.

Wallace averaged 18.5 points per game for Temple last week as the Owls captured the Big 5 title with a 52-49 win at Saint Joseph's before falling in a tightly-contested game to #6 Xavier, 73-66.

She scored 15 points, grabbed six boards and recorded a game-high four steals at Saint Joseph's. Her three-pointer with 25 seconds remaining helped lift Temple to the narrow victory. Wallace then scored 22 points in the loss to Xavier, the first loss for the Owls in 2011. She was a perfect 6-of-6 at the line, grabbed nine rebounds and became Temple's all-time leader in career three-pointers (155).

Temple is the #2 seed at the A-10 Tournament, being held March 4-7. The Owls have a first-round bye, and will play the winner of #7 St. Bonaventure vs. #10 Fordham, with that quarterfinal match-up set for 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5. The game will be webcast live and for free at www.atlantic10.com.

Should Temple advance, it will play its semifinal game on Sunday, March 6 at 2:30 p.m. on CBS College Sports. The championship game is set for Monday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN2.

It has been five years (2005-06) since the Owls have captured the A-10 Tournament title. Last year Temple took Xavier to overtime in the championship game before losing, 57-55. Both Temple and Xavier were undefeated in conference play heading into yesterday's contest, which the Musketeers won to earn the top seed. Xavier has not lost to an A-10 opponent since February of 2009 when the Owls earned a regular-season win.

Defending champion Xavier, currently riding a 15-game winning streak, is looking to win its sixth A-10 title overall and fourth in the last five years, while Temple seeks its fifth league title and Duquesne, which won a program-best 22 games this season, looks to capture its first A-10 crown. Richmond receives its second first-round bye in three years and will also seek its first conference championship.

Saint Joseph's (18-10/8-6) earned the eighth seed and La Salle (10-19/6-8), which will make its first appearance in the Championship since 2007, is the ninth seed. Fordham (12-18/4-10) is the 10th seed, while George Washington (8-20/3-11) and Massachusetts (7-22/3-11) tied for the 11th seed with matching 3-11 A-10 marks. The Colonials defeated the Minutewomen, 62-46, earlier this season and are therefore the 11th seed and UMass earns the 12th and final spot.
