PHILADELPHIA
- Down four in the bottom of the sixth, the Temple baseball team summoned an exciting rally posting seven runs to come from behind and take down Mount St. Mary's, 10-9, Saturday afternoon at La Salle's DeVincent Field.  Temple improves to 7-5 on the year, while the Mount falls to 3-5.

Junior Brant Norlander (1-0) earned his first win of the season, lasting 6.2 innings and striking out three.  Although Norlander was inconsistent at times, he came through in the clutch with several solid plays in the field.  Redshirt-sophomore Steve Visnic came on for the final 2.1 innings, earning the save allowing no runs and just one hit.

The Owls posted 16 hits on the day, with seniors Byron McKoy and Adrian Perez leading the way each going three-for-four.  Juniors Jabair Khan and Taylor Juran, along with sophomore Henry Knabe each added two hits, while senior Ryan Ferguson picked up a double to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.

Mount St. Mary's Brett Moore's (0-1) start was spoiled by a bullpen that allowed five runs.  Moore, giving up five runs over five innings, struck out two and gave up 10 hits.  Nick Riley took the loss for the Mount, giving up five runs, four earned, and allowing four hits.

The visitors posted one run in the first inning on an RBI-triple from Andrew Caron, but the Owls took an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the frame.  McKoy led off the inning with a single to right, advancing to second on a passed ball.  McKoy took third on a single by Perez, with McKoy scoring on a wild pitch and Perez plating on a single from redshirt-junior Steve Nikorak.

Temple padded the lead with one more in the second to go up 3-1.  Knabe, making the start at second today, singled to start things off.  A single from Khan moved Knabe to second, and a well placed bunt from McKoy loaded the bases.  Perez floated a ball out to right field to plate Knabe, but MSM's Moore forced Ferguson to ground into an inning ending double play.

Back-to-back scoring innings turned the score in favor of the Mount.  The Mountaineers picked up one in the third and three in the fourth off of Norlander to take the lead.  Several misplays, including a collision with Knabe and the first base umpire, helped extend the fourth inning for the Mount.

Norlander continued to push through, however, keeping the Mountaineers scoreless in the fifth but giving up two runs in the sixth.  The Owls bats woke up in the sixth, exploding for seven runs in the frame.

Knabe was again the spark for Temple, leading off the frame with a single to right.  Khan, the next batter, roped one up the middle to put runners on first and second, also forcing the Mount to pull starter Moore.  Knabe moved over on a fly ball to right by McKoy, plating on a double by Perez.  Ferguson came up as the next batter and ripped a double to left to clear the bases.

Sophomore Dan Dragos kept the rally going with an infield single, with Nikorak reaching base on an error by the third baseman.  Juran came up with the clutch hit of the game, doubling to clear the bases and give Temple a 9-7 lead.  Freshman Will Remillard sent Juran home with a double of his own, as the inning would end with the Owls up 10-7.

The Mount picked up two in the seventh on a two-out rally, aided by a pair of errors from TU.  Visnic came on for Norlander in the frame, securing the final out and then sitting down the visitors in order in the eighth and ninth to earn the save.

Temple wraps up the weekend hosting Iona at Skip Wilson Field on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
