Owls suffer 19-4 loss to the powerhouse Gators

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The 14th-ranked Florida Gators jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back, as the Temple lacrosse team struggled to get its offense going in a 19-4 loss. Four different players scored for the Owls (1-4), while Kitty Cullen led Florida (6-1) with five goals and Caroline Chesterman added four.
Colby Rhea scored twice for Florida within the first three minutes, and Cullen added her first to give the Gators a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.
Temple's Stephany Parcell got the Owls on the board thanks to an assist from Shelby Christopher at 24:11 of the first half.
The Gators then used a 4-0 run to take a 7-1 lead in the contest. Missy Schweitzer scored a free position goal for the Owls in the final minutes of the first half, but Florida added two more scores before halftime for a 9-2 advantage.
The second half played out much the same way, with the Gators out-shooting Temple 12-4. Jackie Mercer and Keelin Hood scored the Owls' third and fourth goals, respectively.
Temple has two games remaining on its four-game road stretch. The Owls will face Delaware next Saturday, March 19 at 4:00 p.m.
