Men's Track & Field Enters 11 In IC4A Championships

Owls aim for improvement of 13th place finish of last year
PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's track & field team will be sending a total of 11 athletes to the IC4A Championships being held this weekend in Boston, Mass. The Owls finished 13th out of 51 teams at the 2010 IC4A Indoor Championships last season, and are eyeing an improvement of that finish this weekend.
Seniors Emmanual Freeland and Miles Dryden will be running side-by-side in the 200m dash. Both athletes recorded season best times at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships, with Freeland running 22.14 and Dryden 22.30. Freeland also qualified himself for the 55m dash, owning a season best time of 6.42.
You will also find Dryden competing in the long jump at the IC4A Championships. The Wilmington, Del., native posted a leap of 23-02.75 at the Armory Collegiate Challenge last weekend. Also in the field, freshman Gabe Picket will represent the Owls in the triple jump. Pickett's season best came in the Navy Open with a mark of 47-07.
Senior Bob Keogh aims to be dominant in his final IC4A Indoor Championship, competing in the weight throw. Keogh threw a season best at the Penn State National Open, posting a mark of 63-0. Junior Tim Malloy rounds out the field competitors, taking off in the high jump.
Senior Lou Parisi will be running the 800m at the IC4A's. Parisi clocked in a time of 1:52.80 to place first in the men's 800m run at the Penn State National Open. Junior Travis Mahoney earned his ride to the IC4A's with a time of 4:14.72 in the one-mile run at the Atlantic 10 Championships. He also qualified for the 3000m with a time of 8:23.72 at the Navy Open.
The men's distance medley relay qualified for the IC4A's with a school record breaking mark of 9:57.58 at the Penn State National Open. The squad, comprised of Mahoney, freshman Alex McGee, and seniors Eddie Penetar and Aaron Taylor, will be racing tomorrow. Temple's 4x400m relay team will also be in action this weekend.
