Lacrosse Comeback Falls Short in 13-12 Loss at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Despite a furious late comeback in a game delayed by lightning, the Temple lacrosse team (1-3) suffered a 13-12 setback at Jacksonville (4-3) on Wednesday night. Five Owls scored multiple goals, led by sophomore Charlotte Swavola with a hat trick.
The Dolphins were led by freshman Morgan Derner with five goals. Jacksonville led 7-3 at halftime, but Temple scored nine second-half goals to nearly complete a comeback.
Scoring two goals apiece for Temple were Karly Cohen, Missy Schweitzer, Kelsey Zeunk and Stephany Parcell. Goalkeeper Tess Bishop made a season-high 10 saves.
Jacksonville took a 3-0 lead in the first 14 minutes and never trailed in the game. At the end of halftime, the game was delayed over an hour due to lightning and heavy rain, but when play resumed the Owls came out on fire.
Temple scored the first three goals after the delay to narrow its deficit to one, but the Dolphins then matched the Owls the rest of the way.
Jacksonville used another run to take a 13-8 lead before the Owls scored the final four goals of the game, including three in the last minute and eight seconds.
The Owls will be in action again on Saturday, March 12 in a 1:00 p.m. game at #14 Florida.
