Keogh crushes school mark in hammer throw, Mahoney snaps own TU record in steeple

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Senior Bob Keogh and junior Travis Mahoney each trumped school records in their respective events as the Temple men's track & field team completed the first day of competition at the Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary.  Along with senior Emmanual Freeland, each athlete went for IC4A marks and placed first.

Keogh heaved 203-02 in the hammer throw to take top honors, nearly seven-feet past the Temple record.  As of national results heading into competition this week, Keogh's toss ranks 12th in the country.  Mahoney cruised to a time of 9:00.68 in the steeplechase, over 14-seconds faster than his old school record and nine-seconds faster than the next best finisher.  Freeland blazed down the 200m in a time of 21.49 to meet IC4A marks in the event and place first.

Also faring well was senior Chris Durante in the javelin, placing ninth with a toss of 172-09.

The Owls remain in Williamsburg tomorrow for the final day of competition in the Colonial Relays.
