BALTIMORE, Md. – Temple's men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision at UMBC on Monday, April 11. The Owls, 16-7, have just one regular-season match remaining before heading to Saint Louis for the Atlantic 10 Championship.

TU took an early lead with a win of the doubles point. UMBC grabbed a win at number two, but the first and third flights came through for Temple to take the early 1-0 lead. Junior Filip Rams and freshman Taylor Hairston started things with an 8-6 win at number one, before juniors Mansur Gishkaev and Andrey Morozov secured the point with an 8-6 win at the third flight.

The Retrievers quickly took the lead in singles play, winning at the sixth, second and fourth flights to go ahead 3-1. Filip Rams brought it back to 3-2 with a 6-4, 6-3 decision at the first flight, his eighth-straight singles win. Junior Dmitry Vizhunov tied it up with a 6-1, 7-5 win at number three.

The match was decided at number five. Gishkaev opened the match with a 6-3 win in the first set, but UMBC's Gaulthier Berret came back to win the final two sets, 7-6 (3), 6-4, to give his squad the win.
