Owls dominate 400m, 4x1 and 4x4 take first place, Rutter snaps TU mark in steeplechase
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - First place finishes from the 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams, along with a dominating performance in the 400m highlighted action for the Temple women's track & field team at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian University on Sunday afternoon. Also highlighting action was a record-setting performance in the steeplechase by freshman Sarah Rutter.
The Owls' 4x1, comprised of junior Andrea Butler, sophomores Dia Dorsey and Crystal Hercules, and freshman Gennie Depass, ran a time of 48.40 to take top honors. In the 4x4, sophomores Sheina Roberts, Tessa West and Elizabeth-Paige White, and freshman Brianna Alvarez, teammed up to run a first-place time of 3:53.89.
Four of the top five finishers in the 400m were members of the Cherry and White, led by senior Tashima Stephens in first place (57.31). Roberts posted a second place time of 57.88, followed by senior Paris Williams in third (59.01) and White in fifth (59.64).
In the 200m dash, Dorsey took second place with a time of 25.87, followed by Butler in third with a time of 26.00 and freshman Issata Kenneh in fourth (26.16). Depass also fared well in the 100m dash, placing second with a time of 12.38.
Rutter ran a time of 11:51.78 to place second and snap the school record in the 3000m steeplechase. Temple assistant coach Shameka Marshall also made an appearance at the meet, placing first in the 100m hurdles (13.72) and tops in the long jump (20-11.25).
The Owls are in action next competing in the Widener Invitational on April 23.
