Men's Tennis Picks Up 6-1 Win Over Detroit Mercy at Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Temple men's tennis team won its fourth straight match, and seventh of its last eight, with a 6-1 defeat of Detroit Mercy at Duquesne on Saturday, April 2. The Owls improve to 14-5 overall.
TU wasted little time taking the lead with wins at all three doubles bouts. Dmitry Vizhunov and Kacper Rams earned an 8-4 win at the second flight and Filip Rams and Taylor Hairston wrapped up the point with an 8-6 win at number one. Mansur Gishkaev and Andrey Morozov picked up an 8-3 win at number three for good measure.
Stanislav Stekolshikov made it a 2-0 match with his straight-set 6-1, 6-1 win at number two, and Hairston continued winning with a 6-1, 7-5 victory at number six. Kacper Rams scored point number four for the Owls with his 6-3, 6-2 win at number four, securing the win for TU.
Filip Rams was another straight-set winner, defeating his opponent at number one, 6-3, 6-4. Detroit Mercy got on the board with a tough 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 win at number three, before Gishkaev made it a 6-1 match with his 7-6, 2-6, 11-9 win at number five.
Temple returns home for a match against Atlantic 10 foe Saint Joseph's on April 5 at 2 p.m. at TU Pavilion.
