Owls' 4x800m relay meets ECAC marks

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Led by an ECAC qualifying time from the 4x800m relay team, the Temple women's track & field team took an 11th place finish at the Colonial relays, hosted by William & Mary on Saturday. All of the Temple relay teams fared well and finished in the top six.
The women's 1600m sprint relay, made up of sophomore Tessa West, freshman Brianna Alvarez, senior Assata Cowart and sophomore Elizabeth Paige-White, placed sixth in a time of 4:13.54. The Owls' 4x800m relay - seniors Shadaya Bennett and Tashima Stephens, sophomores Tonney Smith and Victoria Gocht - posted a like finish with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:06.29.
In the 4x400m relay, Bennett, Gocht and West teammed with sophomore Sheina Roberts to place fifth in a time of 3:53.59. The 4x200m relay, made up of junior Andrea Butler, freshman Gennie Depass, and sophomores Dia Dorsey and Crystal Hercules, ran a time of 1:44.05 to place fifth.
The Owls will be in competition next as they travel to the Greyhound Invitational on April 15-16.
