Owens wins hammer and shot at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. - Members of the Temple women's track & field team competed at the Widener and Princeton Invitationals, held this weekend. Highlighting action was a first place finish from junior Alanna Owens in the hammer throw and the shot put at the Widener Invitational.

Owens went 43-11.25 in the shot put, and followed that performance with a toss of 147-10 in the hammer. Also faring well in the hammer was junior Brittany Weston, who placed fourth with a heave of 138-06.

On the track at Widener, freshman Ambrosia Iwugo placed second in the 400m with a time of 57.37. Sophomore Tessa West also posted a second place finish, running 1:04.04 in the 400m hurdles. In the 100m dash, sophomore Dia Dorsey ran 12.39 to place third.

At Princeton, sophomore Victoria Gocht placed 26th and senior Tashima Stephens placed 34th in the 800m run.

Select Owls will compete next in the prestigous Penn Relays, held April 28-30 at Franklin Field.
