Diamond Owls Trumped By St. Bonaventure In Game Two, 12-1

AMBLER, Pa. - St. Bonaventure took an early lead and never looked back, handing the Temple baseball team a 12-1 loss at Skip Wilson Field on Saturday afternoon. The Owls, now 21-23 overall, 3-14 in Atlantic 10 play, were held to just seven hits and one run by the Bonnies, now 19-20, 9-8 in A-10 competition.
Junior Brant Norlander was chased after 3.1 innings of work, allowing five earned runs and nine hits, but striking out five. Junior Jimmy Devine relieved Norlander for the next 1.1 frames, with junior Tyler Horst tossing the final 4.1 innings allowing two runs.
It was a slow day at the plate for the Temple bats. Sophomore Elijah Yarborough and senior Ryan Ferguson led the Owls' offense with three and two hits, respectively. Ferguson recorded the only RBI of the day for the Owls, with senior Byron McKoy plating once.
St. Bonaventure needed the arm of Jordan Crane to get through the day on the hill, with Crane throwing a eight innings allowing seven hits and just one run.
The Bonnies took a 3-0 lead after the second inning, and added nine more runs over the course of the next four. Temple broke up the shutout in the eighth, as Ferguson ripped a double down the right field line that plated McKoy.
The series wraps tomorrow with a noon start time, as freshman Matt Hockenberry is slated to start on the hill for the Owls. No starter has been announced for St. Bonaventure.
