DES MOINES, Iowa - Junior Travis Mahoney earned Second Team All-America honors for Temple track and field at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships, placing 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday night. Mahoney ran a time of 8:52.54 in the finals of the event, and joins teammate Bob Keogh, also Second Team All-America, as the first two All-Americans on the team since 1994.

"This is such a big accomplishment for the program, finishing the year strong and having two All-Americans," said head coach Eric Mobley. "I know Travis wanted to finish a little higher but this was a great experience for him. He's established himself as one of the elite runners in the country and now he knows what to expect for the future. It was just an outstanding week for Temple track and field."

Last night, with a lifetime-best throw of 63.66 meters (208-10) in the men's hammer throw semifinals, Keogh placed 13th overall to earn All-America Second Team honors.
