PHILADELPHIA- The 2011 Temple women's soccer team opens the home portion of its schedule Friday afternoon when the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Retrievers visit the Owls at the Ambler Sports Complex for a non-conference match set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
Head coach Matt Gwilliam and his squad open a two are coming off last Saturday's 1-0 win at Iona. The Owls' (1-0-0) stellar defensive effort was e backed by a strong effort in goal by redshirt junior Tara Murphy. Muirphy stopped all five Iona shots that came her way, helping her to pitch the shutout victory in between the posts.
UMBC (0-2-0) rolls into Ambler on Friday afternoon looking for its first win of the season. Last weekend the Retrievers dropped a 2-1 decision to American last Friday before being shutout 2-0 by Campbell in their home-opener last Sunday. Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Kadet had 13 saves through both games last weekend, which was the most by an America East keeper on the weekend.
