Five-Game Road Swing Kicks Off For Women's Soccer Friday At Drexel

Owls put their undefeated record on the line this weekend on the road at Drexel and Hartford
PHILADELPHIA – Two games into the season, Temple women's soccer is 2-0-0, which is the best start the program has had since 1992. It's also only the second time in program history that the Owls have won their first two matches to begin a season. This weekend, the Owls will put their undefeated record on the line when they take on the Drexel Dragons Friday afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m. before heading to Hartford for a contest against the Hawks on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Temple has had off since last Friday when it defeated the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Retrievers on junior Casey Greco's goal in double-overtime. Senior forward Niki Conn was credited with the game-winning assist after having eight shots in the game. Conn's 10 total shots through two games have her on pace to finish the season with 80, which would break Temple's single season record for shots by an individual. Currently, the record stands at 77 shots, which was set in 1991—the first year of the program—by Ayanna Love.
When the weekend slate begins for the Owls at Drexel's Vidas Field, it will also be the start of a five-game road stretch before returning to Ambler, Pa. on Sept. 23.
The hosting Dragons are 1-1-1 on the year thus far and are coming off Monday's 2-0 home victory against Delaware State. Senior Jenna Lindsay and junior Juliana Speroni provided their first tallies of the season in the winning effort. Through three games, Drexel has allowed only one goal largely in part to splitting time between goalkeepers sophomore Victoria Troccoli and freshman Eva Badana. In the all-time series, the Owls own a 7-3-1 advantage.
On Sunday afternoon when the Owls head to Hartford, it could be a battle of two undefeated teams provided that both teams knock off or tie their Friday opponents. The Hawks (1-0-1) will be coming off Friday's match against Fairleigh Dickinson. Sophomore Arielle Aikens and junior Caitlin Alves have a goal apiece through the first two games, while sophomore goalkeeper Erin Quinlan has anchored the defense with her 12 saves and 0.45 goals against average in 200 minutes in net.
