PHILADELPHIA – Fresh off its season-opening 1-0 victory last Saturday against Lafayette at the Ambler Sports Complex, the Temple men's soccer team gears up for the first of four straight matches away from its home field. Late Friday afternoon the Owls will commence the 2011 Brown Soccer Classic when they take on Holy Cross at 5 p.m. before facing host-Brown, a team which went to the third round of last season's NCAA Tournament, on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The Owls are coming off a strong defensive effort in last week's physical match against the Leopards. Sophomore Bobby Rosato backed the effort his defense put forth by securing the shutout victory, making two saves in goal. Junior Cody Calafiore, a selection to this season's Herman Watch-List, provided all the offense Temple needed when he converted on an awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute. The 1-0 win marked the first time since 1989 that the Owls opened a season with a shutout victory.

Holy Cross is 0-2-1 in 2011 thus far. Most recently, the Crusaders dropped a 1-0 decision to Sacred Heart. Sophomores Kevin O'Connell and Josh Cintas each have registered for a team-high three shots on goal. The Crusaders come into Friday's match looking to score their first goal this season.

Before hosting George Mason in its own tournament on Friday evening, Brown is sitting with a record of 1-1 after opening its season a week ago at the Ocean State Classic. The Bears bounced back from last Friday's 1-0 loss to Providence by pouring three goals on Bryant on Monday afternoon to claim a 3-0 shutout win. Sean Rosa leads his team with three shots on goal, helping him be tied in scoring with two of his teammates. Goalkeeper Alex Carr is holding a 0.50 goals against average through both games this season, allowing only one goal.
