Travis Mahoney Named A-10 Performer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - In it's latest weekly release, the Atlantic 10 Conference has selected senior distance runner Travis Mahoney as its male Performer of the Week.
Over the weekend at the Penn State National Open, Mahoney rewrote the Temple record books on Saturday during his running of the 1-Mile Run. In the event, the native of Old Bridge, N.J. finished the race in an elapsed time of 4:02.40, which was fast enough to shatter a 29-year old school record, which was previously held by George Steinbronn (4:05.50).
Before making history, Mahoney helped the Owls as a member of the Distance Medley Relay squad that took first place in the event with an IC4A qualifying mark of 10:01.84 in Friday evening's session of the competition held in State College, Pa.
Joining Mahoney on this week's A-10 honor roll was Charlotte's Joann Blakney. Jamil Muhammed-Ray of Charlotte and Richmond's Taylor Clevinger were named the conference's Rookies of the Week.
