PHILDELPHIA - It was quite the turnaround from 2011 to 2012 for Temple volleyball, so much so that the differential in overall wins ranks seventh among all teams in NCAA Division I.

After an 8-20 record in 2011 under then first-year head coach Bakeer Ganes, the Owls began looking like a new team early in 2012. They would go on to finish 19-11 overall and advance to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament after not even earning a spot in the tournament since 2009. Perhaps most impressive was the similarity in personnel between the teams of 2011 and 2012, as five of seven starters returned.

Akron tops the list of biggest turnarounds, going from four wins to 16 wins. New A-10 member VCU ranks 11th, going from 17 wins to 25 wins.

"I think its great," said Ganes. "It really shows that we had a very special season, and it really highlights the accomplishments we had this year. I'm really happy for the girls because it's pretty much the same team, so it shows they did it because they worked very hard and decided that they wanted to do something special this year. That makes it even more relevant for me. Hopefully we can bulid on this and keep it going next year. That's our goal."
