Rateska Brown Named Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Rateska Brown and Dayton's Sam MacKay were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Duquesne's April Robinson was also honored as the Conference's Rookie of the Week. All three student-athletes were recognized for games played during the week of Nov. 26- Dec. 2.

Brown came off the bench to score career-highs in two wins for Temple last week. The Alvin, S.C., native recorded 15 points in a 70-56 triumph at Bowling Green and followed with a career-high 19 points in a victory over Syracuse (74-67). She hit 4-of-8 from behind the arc against the Orange to help the Owls hand Syracuse its first loss of the season. Brown shot 50 percent from the field for the week (11-for-22) and 50 percent from three-point range (7-for-14), while averaging 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds.

The conference honor is the first of Brown's career. She was also named the Under Armour OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week for her efforts.

MacKay had a career week for Dayton, averaging 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 4.0 steals, as the Flyers went 3-0 and captured their third in-season tournament title of the season at Arizona State. The Dublin, Ohio, native opened the week with a career-high 20 points on a career-high six 3-point field goals made, including nine points in the last seven minutes to break away from the Raiders. She was named MVP of the Arizona State Classic after she led UD to a pair of victories over UNLV (82-58) and the host Sun Devils (65-59) to claim the championship. She scored a team-high 18 points against the Lady Rebels and also had career-highs of eight rebounds and six steals, before registering 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals against ASU. She finished the week shooting 51 percent (19-37) from the field, 48 percent (10-21) from the beyond the arc and was perfect (7-7) at the line.

Robinson helped Duquesne to a pair of wins over Buffalo (78-52) and cross-town rival Robert Morris (61-47) last week, averaging 12.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. The Springfield, Va., native netted a career-high 16 points, shooting 63 percent (5-8) from the floor and 57 percent (4-7) from beyond the arc to propel the visiting Dukes to victory at Buffalo. She finished the week shooting 57 percent (7-13) from the field and 54 percent (7-13) from 3-point territory. Robinson added four steals and two assists on the week.
