Lacrosse Returns Home Against Delaware on Saturday

Owls (5-2) and Blue Hens (2-6) set for 1:00 p.m. game at Geasey Field
PHILADELPHIA - After four straight games on the road, Temple lacrosse returns home on Saturday, March 17 in a 1:00 p.m. game against Delaware at Geasey Field. The Owls (5-2) are looking to snap a two-game losing streak after starting the season 5-0, while the Blue Hens (2-6) have played an extremely tough schedule and have lost five straight. The Owls started the season 5-0 for the first time since 1988, including a season-opening, 14-12 win vs. Oregon as well as a come-from-behind, 12-11 win at Rutgers. Sophomore Jaymie Tabor scored four of the team's final five goals in the Oregon win, including the game-winner. Junior Stephany Parcell scored four goals in the victory at Rutgers while sophomore Kelly Syphard also notched a hat trick with three. Senior goalkeeper Tess Bishop had an impressive 11 saves in the cage in that win, after a nine-save performance in the Oregon win.
Parcell got her second hat trick in a row with another four goals in a 12-3 win vs. Mount St. Mary's, while junior Charlotte Swavola notched her first hat trick of the season with three goals in that game. In the Owls' fourth and fifth wins at Lehigh (14-5) and Lafayette (21-1), senior Stephanie Markunas came on strong. She scored three goals in the Lehigh victory, and followed it up with a five-goal, five-assist performance at Lafayette to tie for sixth all-time in program history with 10 points in a single game.
Senior Lauren Caminiti was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week after the first two wins of the season, having led the Owls with six ground balls, four caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Down in Florida the Owls suffered their first two losses of the season. Temple led 7-0 at Jacksonville before eventually falling 19-16, and most recently the team dropped a 20-3 decision at #5 Florida.
Parcell leads the Owls with 16 goals so far this year, while Markunas is close behind with 15 goals along with seven assists for a team-high 22 points.
Delaware is 2-6 overall after having played a tough schedule thus far. Four of the Blue Hens' losses are to ranked teams (#2 Maryland, #12 Penn State, #13 Loyola (Md.) and #18 Georgetown). Like Temple, Delaware also defeated Lehigh, by a score of 11-7. The Blue Hens won by the exact same score against Villanova.
Chelsea Fay has scored 14 goals to lead Delaware while Caitlin McCartney has scored 12 goals while also recording a team-best nine caused turnovers.
Temple suffered a 14-9 loss at Delaware in 2011. While the two teams are tied in the all-time series, 11-11, the Blue Hens have won each of the last seven meetings, dating back to 2003. Temple's last win was in 2002 by a score of 11-10 at home.
