Temple Men's Crew Competes at the Murphy Cup

Pennsauken, NJ- The Temple men's crew team continued its success on the water with an impressive showing Saturday at the 30th Memorial Murphy Cup Regatta held on the Cooper River. The Owls competed in the Varsity 8+, Junior Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+ and Novice 4+.
The Varsity 8+ comprised of Don Norris (coxswain), Jimmy Barr (Stroke), Aaron Heyde (seat-7), Mike Mirabella (seat-6), Brain Reehill (seat-5), Kevin Nally (seat-4), Perry Cox (seat-3), Djordje Villimanovic (seat-2) and Brandon Joyce (bow) placed 2nd with a time of 6:32 six seconds behind winner Virginia with a time of 6:26.
The Junior Varsity 8+ comprised of Matt Sbei (coxswain), John Boehm (stroke), Joe Bellesheim (seat-7) Jason Cartwright (seat-6) Mike VanAssche (seat-5), Sean McKenna (seat-4), Trey Ehmer (seat-3), Chris Roberts (seat-2) and Alex Klein (bow) placed 4th with a time of 6:43. Virginia was able to secure the win with a time of 6:28.
The Varsity 4+ comprised of Nick Palastro (coxswain), Trey Ehmer (stroke), Petar Ivacic (seat-3), Josh Kuzo (seat-2), and Mike vanAssche (bow) placed second in the morning heats with a time of 8:03.
The Novice 4+ comprised of Matt Ciarella (coxswain), Connor Murphy (stroke), Pat Woodruff (seat-3) Kyle Yerger (seat-2) and Vince DiPentino (bow) won with a time of 7:35, defeating cross town rival Drexel by five seconds.
The Owls will continue with their season on March 31st when they head to California for the San Diego Crew Classic.
