Women's Tennis Wins Second Match of the Day, Beats Villanova 7-0

Owls drop just one set in singles on way to victory
VILLANOVA, Pa. – Competing for the second time today, the Temple women's tennis team showed no signs of tiredness, defeating Villanova 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the West Campus Tennis Courts. It was TU's (12-9) second-straight shutout and fourth-straight win.
Jordan Batey and Alicia Doms started the match with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles to give the Owls the early edge. Yana Mavrina and Agnese Rozite secured the doubles point with an 8-2 victory at the third flight. Villanova (6-12) salvaged the sweep with an 8-7(6) tiebreaker win at No. 1.
In singles action, the Cherry and White made it a clean sweep with straight-set wins at flights two through six. Doms was pushed to the limit at No. 1, but eventually came out on top of a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 three set match to complete the shutout.
Temple closes out the regular season with a 10 a.m. match at Old Dominion on Sunday, April 15.
