TU cruises to third-straight Atlantic 10 win
PHILADELPHIA – Temple's women's tennis team made quick work of visiting La Salle on Tuesday morning, defeating the Atlantic 10 opponent by a score of 7-0 at TU Pavilion. The Owls (11-9, 6-1 A10) recorded their second shutout in the last three matches.
The Explorers (1-8, 0-4 A10) came into the match with just five players, so TU had a 1-0 lead by default before the event even began, and were also in good position to win the doubles point.
Temple made it a clean sweep in doubles action with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, as well as the third flight default. Rebecca Breland and Paola Calderon teamed up at the first flight for an 8-0 win, while Cristina Grimaldi and Maame Ama Osei defeated their No. 2 opponents, 8-1.
In singles play, Carly Bohman made it a 3-0 match with a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 5. Calderon secured the win with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the fourth flight.
