Women's Tennis Defeats Xavier, 4-0, in Quarterfinal Action at Atlantic 10 Championship

Fourth-seeded Owls advance to semifinals to face top-seeded Massachusetts
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Paola Calderon was instrumental in scoring two points for the fourth-seeded Temple women's tennis team in its quarterfinal match of the Atlantic 10 Championship, helping the squad to a 4-0 victory over #5 Xavier on Friday morning.
In doubles action, Yana Mavrina and Agnese Rozite started things with an 8-4 win at No. 3. Calderon and Rebecca Breland secured the point with an 8-6 win over their opponents at the first flight.
Jordan Batey kept the points coming for Temple with her 6-3, 6-2 win over Andrea Wolf at No. 3. Maame Ama Osei pushed it to 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6, and Calderon clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Kally Alkire at No. 4.
Temple (14-10) advances to the semifinal to face the top-seeded Massachusetts Minutewomen in a 10 a.m. match on Saturday. The Owls' only loss against a league foe this season was to UMass, a 3-4 decision early in the spring.
