Men's Crew Fares Well at SIRA Prelims

Oak Ridge, TN- The Temple men's crew team began competition at the SIRA Regatta on Saturday in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Owls advanced three boats, V8, JV 8 and Novice 4 to the event finals.
The Owls Varsity 8, comprised of Donald Norris (coxswain), Jimmy Barr (Stroke), Aaron Heyde (seat-7), Michael Mirabella (seat-6), Brian Reehill (seat-5), Djordje Vilimanovic (seat-4), Perry Cox (seat-3), Kevin Nally (seat-2) and Brandon Joyce (bow), placed second with a time of 5:51 to advance to tomorrow's grand final. Virginia won the heat with a time of 5:47.
The Junior Varsity 8+ comprisd of Matthew Sbei (coxswain), Sean McKenna (stroke), Joe Bellesheim (seat-7), John Boehm (seat-6), Mike VanAssche (seat-5), Trey Ehmer (seat-4), Petar Ivacic (seat-3), Chris Roberts (seat-2) and Alex Klein (stroke), placed second with a time of 6:21. Grand Valley won the heat with a time of 6:16.
The Cherry and White Novice 4+ comprised of Mattehw Ciarela (coxswain), Connor Murphy (seat-4), Pat Woodruff (seat-3), Josh Kuzo (seat-2) and Frank Dipentino (bow) captured its semifinal heat with a time of 6:55 beating out Virginia, Wake Forest and Dayton.
The Owls return to action tomorrow, when they compete in the event finals.
