Men's Crew Readies for Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - Temple Men's Crew will row five boats at the 2012 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta which gets underway May 11 at 7:00 a.m.
Looking for its first gold medal since 2004, the Temple Varsity 8 is comprised of senior James Barr (stroke), senior Aaron Heyde (7-seat), junior Mike Mirabella (6-seat), senior Brian Reehill (5-seat), senior Diordje Vilimanovic (4-seat), freshman Perry Cox (3-seat), junior Kevin Nally (2-seat), junior Brandon Joyce (bow) and senior Donald Norris (cox).
The Varsity 8 will row from lane four in its heat Friday that is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
Freshman Kyle Yerger (stroke) and senior Petar Ivacic (bow) will compete in the pair competition, rowing at 9:36 a.m. from lane three.
The Junior Varsity 8, comprised of junior Matthew Sbei (coxswain), senior Sean McKenna (stroke), senior Joe Bellesheim (seat-7), senior John Boehm (seat-6), senior Mike VanAssche (seat-5), junior Trey Ehmer (seat-4), freshman Steve Lindeman (seat-3), junior Chris Roberts (seat-2) and senior Alex Klein (bow), will row from lane two in its 10:12 a.m. semifinal on Saturday.
The Owls Freshman/Novice 4 boat, comprised of freshmen Matthew Ciarella (coxswain), Connor Murphy (seat-4), Pat Woodruff (seat-3), Josh Kuzo (seat-2) and Vince DiPentino (bow), will row out of lane three in its heat commencing at 1:36 p.m.
senior Jason Cartwright will be one of 36 rowers competing in the men's collegiate single race. He will row in lane one of his heat that commence at 1:12 p.m.
Saturday's semifinals get underway at 7:44 a.m. Follow owlsports.com for results and start times. The finals on Saturday will be televised live by WPVI (6ABC) beginning at 1:00 p.m. Action News Sports Anchor Keith Russell will lead the coverage along with commentators Ferdinand Bergen, former LaSalle High School and Temple University Dad Vail gold medal winner, and Renee Hykel, a standout rower at Saint Joseph's University and a former Olympian.
Jason Read, a four-year Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta gold medal winner for Temple and current women's rowing coach at Temple will join Russell, Bergen and Hykel on Saturday evening for a recap show that can be viewed on 6ABC beginning at 7:30 pm.
