Men's Crew Advances All Boats to Semifinals of Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - With day one of the prestigious Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta underway, Temple men's crew advanced all four boats to Saturday's semifinals.
The Owls' Varsity 8, comprised of senior James Barr (stroke), senior Aaron Heyde (7-seat), junior Mike Mirabella (6-seat), senior Brian Reehill (5-seat), senior Diordje Vilimanovic (4-seat), freshman Perry Cox (3-seat), junior Kevin Nally (2-seat), junior Brandon Joyce (bow) and senior Donald Norris (coxswain), placed second in its heat with a time of 6.04.
The Cherry and White Freshman/Novice 4 boat, comprised of freshmen Matthew Ciarella (coxswain), Connor Murphy (seat-4), Pat Woodruff (seat-3), Josh Kuzo (seat-2) and Vince DiPentino (bow), won their heat with a time of 6.51.
Freshman Kyle Yerger (stroke) and senior Petar Ivacic (bow) competed in the pair competition and placed second in their heat with a time of 7:54.
Senior Jason Cartwright, one of 36 rowers competing in the men's collegiate single race, placed third in his race with a time of 8:41.
The Junior Varsity 8, comprised of junior Matthew Sbei (coxswain), senior Sean McKenna (stroke), senior Joe Bellesheim (seat-7), senior John Boehm (seat-6), senior Mike VanAssche (seat-5), junior Trey Ehmer (seat-4), freshman Steve Lindeman (seat-3), junior Chris Roberts (seat-2) and senior Alex Klein (bow), did not compete Friday and will row from lane two at 10:12 a.m. for its semifinal heat.
The semifinal heats are set to begin on Saturday, May 12, starting at 7:00 a.m., followed by the finals. Check back to Owlsports.com for the latest results and race times.
