PHILADELPHIA- Men's crew wrapped up a successful weekend with Frosh/Novice 4+ taking gold at the prestigious Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta and remaining undefeated for the spring season.
The Cherry and White Freshman/Novice 4 boat, comprised of freshmen Matthew Ciarella (coxswain), Connor Murphy (seat-4), Pat Woodruff (seat-3), Josh Kuzo (seat-2) and Vince DiPentino (bow), placed first in the finals on Saturday with a time of 6.51
After advancing to the finals, the Owls' Varsity 8, comprised of senior James Barr (stroke), senior Aaron Heyde (7-seat), junior Mike Mirabella (6-seat), senior Brian Reehill (5-seat), senior Diordje Vilimanovic (4-seat), freshman Perry Cox (3-seat), junior Kevin Nally (2-seat), junior Brandon Joyce (bow) and senior Donald Norris (coxswain), placed fifth with a time of 6.06.
The Junior Varsity 8, comprised of junior Matthew Sbei (coxswain), senior Sean McKenna (stroke), senior Joe Bellesheim (seat-7), senior John Boehm (seat-6), senior Mike VanAssche (seat-5), junior Trey Ehmer (seat-4), freshman Steve Lindeman (seat-3), junior Chris Roberts (seat-2) and senior Alex Klein (bow), placed third in the semifinals before taking fifth in the finals with a time of 6.21
Freshman Kyle Yerger (stroke) and senior Petar Ivacic (bow) competed in the pair competition and placed third in the semifinals with a time of 7.29
Senior Jason Cartwright, competing in the men's collegiate single race, placed third in the semifinals with a time of 7.42
The Owls will return to action on May 31 when they close out their spring season with the IRA Regatta.
